Programme: Millennium Challenge Compact — Liberia
The MCC Liberia Compact was signed in 2015 under the preceding administration and therefore was not originated by President Weah. It continued through the first half of his term and formally closed in January 2021. MCC states that the compact supported rehabilitation of the Mount Coffee Hydropower Plant, creation of an independent energy regulator, improved LEC operations and electricity-service delivery, rehabilitation of a raw-water pipeline and development of data-driven road-maintenance systems. MCC later reported that the compact enabled more than 50,000 new household electricity connections. This entry records successful completion and handover during the Weah administration while clearly recognising the compact's 2015 origin and U.S. financing.
