Programme: Rural Economic Transformation Project — Additional Financing II
The World Bank approved additional financing for the Rural Economic Transformation Project on 22 December 2023, near the end of the Weah administration. The financing was designed to complete an 85-kilometre missing link from the Côte d’Ivoire border through Toe Town to Zwedru on Liberia's Southeastern Road Corridor. The World Bank said the broader financing targeted an estimated 900,000 farmers and road users. The original RETRAP was approved in June 2021. Construction continued beyond the Weah term; this entry records financing and project preparation achieved during 2023, not completion of the road during the administration.
